Here are some of my favorite poems.
I've always liked Emily Dickinson, ever since I've read "If you were coming in the Fall". I plan to add some of my own poems here some time in the near future...
If You Were Coming in the Fall
If you were coming in the fall, I'd brush the summer by With half a smile and half a spurn, As housewives do a fly.
If I could see you in a year,
I'd wind the months in balls,
And put them each in separate drawers,
Until their time befalls.
If only centuries delayed,
I'd count them on my hand,
Subtracting till my fingers dropped
Into Van Diemen's land.
If certain, when this life was out,
That yours and mine should be,
I'd toss it yonder like a rind,
And taste eternity.
But now,all ignorant of the length
Of time's uncertain wing,
It goads me,like the goblin bee,
That will not state its sting.

I died for beauty but was scarce Adjusted in the tomb, When one who died for truth was lain In an adjoining room.
He questioned softly why I failed?
"For beauty," I replied.
"And I for truth,--the two are one;
We brethren are," he said.
And so, as kinsmen met a night,
We talked between the rooms,
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And covered up our names.

No matter where I go,
Be it in my past or future,
I still search for you.
My heart longs for you
As the cicadas long for summer,
So they can wake up
Finally
and sing their joy to the world.
I know I will find you,
If I look hard, and long enough.
In all of history, we will meet many times
But not always will we recognize each other
Sometimes we will meet in the street…
Not knowing me, you smile as we pass
And I smile and am strengthened
Until our next meeting
I met you in middle school
In 7th grade, you were the
star basketball player
And you could see my admiration
Every time we passes in the halls.
But one day, you moved to Oregon
And I saw you no more.
I met you at my high school,
Someone who just changed schools,
And who wasn't in any of my classes,
But my letters to you
You'll keep until you meet me again.
At my job,
You were someone's older brother
who came to drop them off,
you might have known me then,
but age is an obstacle some people
can't get around.
I met you last summer,
A charmer, I didn't see it for awhile
But it was time to leave
And we didn't know
Each other at all.
But you hugged me at the end,
And tapped me gently on the nose
And said, "you'd best keep in touch.".
As if you almost knew …
Whenever you will know me-
Someone you feel you've known all your life
In an strange, unexplained way.
